Cycling to Downpatrick Head along the North Mayo Coast

For the ultimate North Mayo sight seeing tour take the cycling route to Downpatrick Head along the North Mayo coast. The whole route is approx. 80km long with about 800m elevation.
Start by leisurely exploring the paths of Belleek woods. Visit the castle and find the concrete boat Crete Boom before heading to the start of the Ballina Greenway.
Discover the Monasteries of the Moy on the way to the historic port village Killala with its 12th century round tower. You could add in a stop at the beautiful Ross beach, before heading for Lacken Strand, and continue along the stunning coast line to Downpatrick Head.
It’s time to get off the bike for a little stroll to take in the incomparable views over the coastline and the sea stack Dún Briste.
Continue on to Ballycastle. Mary’s cottage kitchen is the perfect opportunity for a lunch, or coffee and cake stop. Refreshed and fuelled make your way back to Ballina.
